The international festival of young ballet dancers was founded three years ago by the «Oleg Vinogradov foundation for the preservation and development of classical ballet», together with the Department of ballet directing at the St. Petersburg Conservatoire. The festival is dedicated to the international dance festival, which was established by UNESCO on the birthday of the great French choreographer Jean-Georges Noverra. This year the festival is dedicated to the successor of Noverra — Marius Petipa, whose half-century activity at the Mariinsky theatre determined the fate of Russian classical ballet. Its participants are young dancers from ballet schools in the USA, Hong Kong, Germany and Russia, who have the opportunity to study with the best teachers of the Mariinsky theatre and the Academy of Russian ballet for ten festival days. Vaganova, and then passed the strict selection, to debut on the big stage in St. Petersburg-the capital of the world ballet.
The program of the gala concert next to the debutants will be performed by artists of the ballet troupe of the Opera And ballet theater of the Conservatory, as well as other musical theaters of St. Petersburg.
A large ballet evening in three sections will be opened with the reconstruction of the first steps of ballet art, which was born at the court of the French kings. The audience will be presented with fragments of the ballets of Petipa’s predecessor Jules Perrault, as well as choreography of the brilliant pupil of Petipa – Mikhail Fokin. The program will be completed by one of the masterpieces of Marius Petipa – “GrandPas” from the ballet “Paquita”.
The final Gala concert will take place on April 30, 2016 at 19.00 on the stage of “Music Hall “Theater at the address: St. Petersburg, Alexander Park, 4.
